THE NORTH COTSWOLD CHAMBER CHOIR
The North Cotswold Chamber Choir will be performing a concert of music old and new in St Peter's Church on Saturday 27th January at 7.30pm. Intermingled with a selection of JS Bach's Motets are Palestrina's Stabat Mater, a double-choir setting of a text withdrawn by the church because it was too passionate; Come Holy Ghost, a modern classic by Jonathan Harvey that mixes plainsong and semi-improvisations; Veni Sancte Spiritus, a serene medieval motet by a neglected English master; and John Tavener's Song for Athene, a response to the death of a young Greek girl which gained universal popularity after it was performed at the funeral service of Diana, Princess of Wales.
The North Cotswold Chamber Choir is one of the finest choral groups in Oxfordshire. Formed in 1992, our repertoire embraces a huge range of styles encompassing seven centuries of choral music, from sacred Tudor anthems and masterpieces of the Baroque period to secular, contemporary and popular works. The choir rehearses regularly in the Field Studies Centre in Sibford Road – so if you happen to passing by on a Monday or Thursday evening in January you might overhear a sneak preview of the concert!
Tickets, priced £10 / £8 concessions / £4 under 14s, will be available in January from the Village Shop, on the door – or you can reserve tickets by emailing tickets@nc3.org.uk or by calling me.

Deputy Chair,

There will be five performances in all on the following dates in the Memorial Hall;
Wednesday to Saturday, 31st January and 1st, 2nd and 3rd February 2007. All shows start at 7.30pm prompt except the Saturday matinee which begins at 2.30pm.
Tickets are £6.50 and £4.50 for concessions. Tickets will go on sale from 2nd January 2007 and will be available from the Box Office:- telephone Sheila on 730355.
From past experience, we are usually over subscribed so do please apply early to avoid disappointment in obtaining a seat.
We look forward to seeing you all then and thank you for your support in the past.
